Diana Princess of Wales died from serious injuries in the early hours of August 31 1997 after a terrible car crash in Paris. Her tragic death led to a huge outpouring of grief among the British people who are now remembering the beloved royal 20 years on. Ahead of the 20th annivesary of the Princess Diana's death next month, here is a look back at her life in pictures.

Diana and Dodi Fayed were killed in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. 

Prime Minister Tony Blair said: "She was the people's princess and that is how she will stay, how she will remain in our hearts and our memories for ever."
