Kangana Ranaut Was Called An 'Interfering Bi**h' By Filmmakers
While Aamir Khan is widely acknowledged as a 'perfectionist' for offering his unsolicited advice to directors, cinematographers and screenplay writers of films he works in, the same standards don't apply to everyone it seems. Kangana Ranaut revealed that she was called an 'interfering bi***' when she tried to give her inputs to people involved in making a film.
Ranaut was speaking at the JIO MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2015, in a panel titled 'Women In Indian Cinema'. "Being an actress, when I started contributing to my films, writing dialogues and screenplays, I thought people would find me more useful. I can do a lot more than any other actors. I was shocked to see that it was seen as something which is not accepted, no matter how much they benefit from it. No matter how much they want us to contribute," she said.
She added: "When I want to contribute to a film because I have a title role, my contribution is seen as interfering. Seeing male actors being considered as maverick, larger-than-life star and as a creative person it makes me want to aspire more and achieve the same status in the society, and for that I am called a bad**s and interfering b*tch."
Ranaut, whose upcoming films include Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon and Ketan Mehta's Rani Laxmi Bai also addressed issues of ageism in Bollywood. She said,"Playing a mother is better than a man-eater dacoit that I've played. A mother is the most purest and most beautiful form that humanity could offer us. Why is being a mother looked down upon? Why is being older looked down upon? Because we don't see enough role models. We don't see enough women who go out there and say 'I'm 40 and I'm beautiful'."
