8 Famous Bollywood Celebrity Couples Who Are Separated But Not Divorced
The glitzy, glamorous Bollywood life comes at a cost. Too many failed fairytale romances have proved it time and again Many famous couples, who were once head over heels in love and bound by holy matrimony, fell apart eventually. We have a list of a few such couples, who have not officially divorced yet, but have found an answer only in separation to solve their personal issues.
#1. Gulzar - Raakhee
Leading poet, Gulzar, married actress, Raakhee, already a divorcee, in 1973, when both were new to the ways of Bollywood. It is said that trouble sparked when Gulzar did not consider Raakhee for his movie Mausam, and cast her then rival Sharmila Tagore instead. After many differences, the couple split just a year later and have been living seprately ever since.
#2. Rajesh Khanna - Dimple Kapadia
Rajesh Khanna was on the zenith of super-stardom when he married 16-year-old Dimple Kapadia, in 1973. Though it became one of the most talked about weddings of Bollywood at that time. And, it remained in news for long as it was hard to digest for the nation (read: ladies) that their most beloved star had broken their hearts by settling down with someone almost 15-years younger than him. However, this relationship did not last long, in 1982 the couple separated, but they never got legally divorced. During one of her interviews, Dimple had even been quoted as saying, “The life and happiness in our house came to an end the day I and Rajesh got married.“ They never proceeded with their divorce formally even after their long separation.
#3. Randhir Kapoor - Babita
The legendary jodi of Bollywood was said to be head over heels in love with each other when they tied the knot in 1971. It has always been said that the Kapoors asked Babita, already a star, to quit movies, and troubles started then. But tabloids have also reported that Randhir’s temper problem and alcoholism were a reason for their separation in 1988. The couple still lives separately, but have now reconciled differences and come together for social dos.
#4. Mahima Chaudhary - Bobby Mukherjee
Actress Mahima Chaudhary got married to the already divorced architect, Bobby Mukherjee in 2006, in a hush-hush ceremony. In 2011, however, it was made public that the couple has been living separately due to incompatibility and differences. Still not divorced, the couple are probably giving it second thoughts for their 4-year-old daughter.
#5. Om Puri - Nandita
She wrote a tell-all-tale on his life, he accused her of adultery, and later ended up being accused of domestic violence! After much drama and hulchul, the couple made their differences public and separated. Surprisingly, even after a lot spats in public and the matter even reaching the police station, the couple has still not divorced each other.
#6. Sangeeta Bijlani - Mohammad Azharuddin
Sangeeta and Mohammad Azharuddin tied the knot in 1996. This was Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. He was previously married to Naureen with whom he had two sons. It was rumoured that Sangeeta was in relationship with Bollywood actor Salman Khan, and the two were all set for marriage. But, things went wrong when she caught him cheating on with Somy Ali. Apparently, Sangeeta and Salman’s wedding cards too were printed, but the wedding was called off a few days before the set date. Sangeeta then went on marrying Mohammad Azharuddin. The couple later separated in year 2010.
#7. Karan Singh Grover - Jennifer Winget
Their’s was a fairytale wedding awaited by all there fans. Soon after Jennifer Winget announced her plans to marry her on-screen co-star Karan Singh Grover, people started talking about Karan’s past. Karan Singh Grover who enjoys a ‘casanova’ had two serious relations in past. He married noted actress Shraddha Nigam in 2008, but the marriage ended with a divorce 10 months later. Reasons cited were Karan’s extra-marital affair with his Jhalak Dikhla Jaa choreographer Nicole Alvares. Karan announced his divorce with Jennifer on his twitter saying, "For all those who are concerned, you might have heard that Jennifer and I have separated and will soon be getting divorced. I just wanted to confirm that it’s true. The decision has been mutually agreed upon and the reasons are too personal to share….”
#8. Ranvir Shorey - Konkona Sen Sharma
Konkona and Ranvir fell in love with each other while working together for the movie, Mixed Doubles, in 2007. The two got engaged in June 2008, and started living together thereafter. They got married on September 3, 2010, and are blessed with a baby boy, Haroon. However, in 2013, there were rumours that their marriage was on the rocks. For a long time, both Ranvir and Konkona kept denying the rumours. But, finally on September 14, 2015, they announced on Twitter that they have decided to separate! They have decided to co-parent their son and remain friends.
