Google for Education is a service from Google that provides independently customizable versions of several Google products using the domain name provided by the customer.

Main difference betwen Gmail and G Suite are in the google account, while it is @gmail.com in gmail where as in GSuite it will be a custom domain name. Also the storage space allowed is 15GB in gmail while it is unlimited in G Suite Education.
